Anna Maria Westlake is Theo Huxtable's 10th grade high school mathematics teacher. She is married to Jack Westlake and mother to Gabrielle. She was played by Sonia Braga.
Anna Maria makes her first appearance in Mrs. Westlake. As a teacher, she is very strict and tasking, much to both Theo's and Cockroach's consternation. However, both young men come to respect her. Theo's math grades improve, and while Cockroach's performance does not appear to improve, he comes to her defense in her absence by insisting her class study hard for an exam she scheduled prior to taking leave for pregnancy (An Early Spring).
